MS&D Rounds Out Preseason Action In Red - White Meet

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming and diving team held a Red vs. White Intrasquad meet at the Lewellen Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon to continue the 2015-16 season.
The Red Team came out on top with 60 points, while the White Team fell closely behind with 51 points. Opening the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay was the White Team in 3:37.99 time by the combination of Nate Slack, Luke Nondorf, Alec Tuthill and Austin Green.
The Red Team then responded with seven consecutive event wins. Junior Andrew Carlson took the top spot in both the 1000 freestyle (10:07.01) and the 100 free (48.00), while sophomore Banistre Lienhart finished first in the 200 free in 1:49.43. Other top finishers for the Red Team included senior Cole Smith, who touched the wall first in the 50 free (21.74), junior Jacob Eckert in the 200 IM (2:00.36), junior Bradley Ridge in the 200 fly (2:03.71), and freshman Lane Sawyer in one-meter diving action (190.58).
The White Team tallied two individual first place finishes when junior JD Middleton clocked a 2:03.02 in the 200 back, and when sophomore Isaac Walling marked a 4:57.80 final in the 500 free.
Rounding out the top finishes on the day was the Red Team's freshman Cullen Tyler, who cinched a 2:17.74 final in the 200 breast, while Sawyer also topped three-meter diving action with a 194.18 score.
The combination of Lienhart, Logan Kisinger, Carlson and Smith closed out the meet with a Red Team first place final in the 400 free relay with a 3:13.82 time.
The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will officially open 2015-16 action when they host the 12th Annual Doug Coers Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 21 with the women's swimming and diving program. The event is slated for a noon start.
