January 26, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Dan Peters was a basketball coach for nearly 40 years; his career path taking him from a successful head coach at Walsh University and Youngstown State to a well regarded assistant for Bob Huggins at Cincinnati and Thad Matta at Ohio State. His legacy lives on every day in his son Danny, a first year assistant for Cardinal's coach James Whitford.
Dan Peters passed away in October, claimed after a year's fight with pancreatic cancer. Peters, whose last coaching stop was at Akron, will be remembered Tuesday when the Cards travel to James A. Rhodes Arena. The game has been desginated a 'Purple Out' #ForPete'sSake, with purple being the awarness color for pancreatic cancer. It's the second year the Ball State-Akron game has been a 'Purple Out.'
In the included video Cardinals coach Danny Peters recalls his father, discussing his legacy, what he meant to others, and most importantly the impact he had on Danny himself.
