
Field Hockey Falls To Syracuse 5-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Ball State (3-1) field hockey team dropped a 0-5 decision against undefeated Syracuse (6-0) Sunday afternoon.
Junior Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) tallied an outstanding 15 saves for a 0.750 save percentage, while senior Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam/Beach Premier) recorded her 13th career defensive save to assist Henley in the first half.
Offensively, sophomore Merinda Morley (University City, Mo./University City), junior Bethany Han (Lititz, Pa/Warwick) and senior Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes/Beach Premier/Icoyo) were each credited with shots on goal for the day.
“It was fun to battle such a great team today. We worked hard and had great moments throughout the game,” Ball State field hockey head coach Beth Maddox said. “Now we focus our energy on preparing for Ohio State. Should be an exciting game”
Syracuse attacked the net with two goals from both Lauren Brooks and Kati Nearhouse while Lieke Visser rounded out the scoring for the day.
The Ball State field hockey team returns to action Sunday, Sept. 14, when they take on Ohio State at 1 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio.
