Men's Tennis Opens Fall Play At Milwaukee Classic

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Ball State University men's tennis team opened fall play at the 39th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic hosted by Marquette Friday at the Town Club in Fox Point, Wis.
In singles action, the Cardinals opened play up against host Marquette. Senior Patrick Elliott and sophomore Patrick Downs each recorded victories for Ball State. Elliott took down Vukasin Teofanovic 4-2 and then Teofanovic was forced to retire, while Downs won in straight sets over Krystiyan Trukov, 7-6, 6-4.
Ball State swept the doubles competition against its opponent Air Force. Elliott paired up with sophomore Lucas Andersen for an 8-6 win over Grant Taylor and Max Olson. Senior Ray Leonard teammed up with true freshman Colling Rigney to capture an 8-4 victory over Andrew Parks and Sean Chi. Sophomores Matt Helm and Downs rounded out the day for the Cardinals with their 8-4 defeat over Lucas Fumagalli and Nico Carpenter.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues fall action at the 39th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Saturday at 10 a.m. (EST) against Wisconsin in singles play and then the Cardinals will face Marquette in doubles competition at 4 p.m. (EST).
