Cardinals Travel To Ohio State

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (3-1) will hit the road again this weekend to take on Ohio State (1-2) Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals are ranked number one in the Mid-American Conference this season.
Ball State is coming off of a split weekend after earning a 2-1 win at Colgate before falling 5-0 to #5 Syracuse. Junior Cameron Daniels (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) secured the win over Colgate after scoring her first career goal halfway through the game. Junior goalkeeper Shelby Henley recorded 26 saves in the series and leads the MAC in goals against average (2.00) and save percentage (0.800). The Novi, Mich. Native is also third in saves (32) and saves per game (8.00)
The Cardinals lead the MAC in goal against average (2.00), goals allowed (8) and goals allowed per game (2.00). Ball State is also ranked second for goals scored per game (2.50), assists (9), assists per game (2.25), saves (33) and saves per game (8.25)
SCOUTING OHIO STATE: Ohio State currently holds a 1-2 record in the 2014 season. The meeting with the Cardinals will be the Buckeyes' third home game of the season with their only win of the season coming at home against Miami 3-2. Freshman Maddy Humphrey has scored two goals for Ohio State while goalkeeper Liz Tamburro has allowed nine goals against with 35 saves on the season.
SERIES HISTORY: Sunday's game marks the 21st meeting between Ball State and Ohio State with the 13-7 advantage to the Buckeyes. The Cardinals fell 2-1 to the Buckeyes last year in Muncie, Ind. after Mona Frommold scored with just five minutes remaining of play.

Looking ahead, the Ball State field hockey team will play its home opening game Wednesday, Sept. 17 against Indiana on the Ball State Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
