ALL-ACCESS: The Return of Rudy
March 09, 2014 | Men's Basketball
When Ball State All-Access first introduced us to Kindon Crowder, he was a great story (chronicled here). The senior member of the Cardinals' men's basketball squad had persevered through not playing high school ball to make his Division I college team. It was a story of triumph and of overcoming enormous, if not impossible, odds.
A year later, Ball State All-Access catches up with Crowder once again. This time we meet under much different circumstances. Not only did Crowder return for his senior season, but the guard became a meaningful contributor to the Ball State cause. His first significant action came at Marquette and on national television. At Central Michigan he logged a career-best 23 minutes, stealing a pass and laying it in within seconds of checking in. Against Eastern Michigan he helped bust the 2-3 zone, draining a trio of threes en route to a 10 point afternoon. All of Crowder's success invoked references to the legendary gridiron walk-on Rudy Ruettiger, a nickname Crowder accepted...once he figured out who Rudy was.
Ball State begins Mid-American Conference tournament action Monday night at Ohio. All of the action can be followed online as well as on the radio at 104.1 WLBC.
