Men?s Hoops Set for Home Opener Monday Night
November 16, 2014 | Men's Basketball
The Ball State men's basketball team opens its home schedule Monday night, hosting IU Kokomo for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Worthen Arena.
It will be a family affair for Ball State freshman Jeremie Tyler, whose brother Jerome Campbell is a starting guard for IU Kokomo. Tyler will be suiting up in his second career game and his first home game. He scored 12 points in his debut Friday at Utah.
Fellow freshman Sean Sellers went for a game-high 26 points against the Utes, helping to keep Ball State (0-1) within arm's reach until the closing minutes against the nation's No. 25 team. His 26 points were the most ever by a Cardinals rookie in a debut performance and the fifth-most by a Ball State freshman in any game.
Ball State will be facing IU Kokomo (1-3) for the first time. The Cougars, an NAIA program, already have four games under their belt. They have three players averaging double figures: Jared Lawrence (16.3 ppg), Nick Teeter (16.0) and Aaron Knupp (10.8).
The game marks the first of two consecutive Mondays with home contests for Ball State, which will host Grambling State on Nov. 24. Sandwiched between those two games is a short trip to the Fairgrounds Coliseum in Indianapolis for a matchup with IUPUI on Saturday, Nov. 22.
