
XC Logs Five Career-Best Times At MAC Championship

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State's five scored runners turned in career-best times as the Cardinals ended the 2014 season by placing 12th at the 2014 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship hosted by Central Michigan at the Pleasant Hills Golf Course in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Toledo won the 6K race with a team score of 48 points, while Eastern Michigan's Victoria Voronko captured the individual title by finishing the course in 20:21 to help the Eagles earn second with 69 points. Miami (103) finished third, followed by Bowling Green (127), Central Michigan (155), Western Michigan (183), Buffalo (187), Kent State (202), Northern Illinois (212), Ohio (231), Akron (258) and Ball State (359).
In her final MAC Cross Country championship meet, senior Courtney Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) led the Cardinals to the finish line, placing 49th among scored runners with a career-fast 6K time of 22:32.
Following close behind was her twin sister senior Caitlynn Edon (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) who placed 73rd among scored runners by crossing the finish line in a career-fast time of 23:19.
Sophomore Ericka Rinehart (Angola, Ind./Angola) was Ball State's third fastest runner on the day, clocking in with a career-fast effort of 23:26 to place 76th among scored runners. Rounding out Ball State's top five performers, and also turning in career-best 6K times, were freshman Sarah Hoppes (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) in 80th (23:42) and sophomore Emma Manchess (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights/IPFW) in 81st (23:42).
Also competing in the meet for Ball State were junior Danielle Dahl (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) and freshmen Jessica Bryzek (Brownsburg, Ind./Indiana Academy), placing 83rd (24:13) and 84th (24:35), respectively.
