Zach Fields: Senior Steps Up
March 13, 2013 | Men's Basketball
When Zach Fields signed to play at Ball State it was a big deal. The Cardinals, devoid of Indiana natives when coach Billy Taylor took over, landed a 6-10 center from the state when Fields faxed in his NLI.
Fields redshirted as a freshman, however, and played only four minutes a game during his first three years active. But as a senior Fields has stepped up and started 21 games.
That process was no easy road. "Big Country" spent hours in the weight room and radically changed his diet to drop 30 pounds and get in shape. The transformation has not only helped out Fields, but also the Cardinals. Now Country is looking to finish his career on top, with a MAC tournament championship.
