Field Hockey Takes on Longwood

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (1-3) is headed to Oxford, Ohio for a neutral site match up with the Longwood Lancers (0-4). The Cardinals fell to Davidson and No. 23 Louisville last weekend in Louisville, Ky.
Freshman Allie White (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) scored her first collegiate goal against Davidson last weekend. Sophomore Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) leads the offense for the Cardinals with four goals and eight points on the season. Redshirt freshman Bianca Velez (Virginia Beach, Va./Floyd E. Kellam) has two assists on the season and two points.
Freshmen Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) and Maddi Elliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) continue to split up the goalkeeping duties for the Cardinals. Henley has made 17 saves, while Elliott has tallied 15.
SCOUTING LONGWOOD: The Lancers are 0-4 this season, most recently dropping a 6-2 game against No. 5 Duke. Jennifer Burris leads the offense for Longwood, having scored two goals this season. Goalie Meg Mitchell has made 30 saves this season, while allowing 15 goals.
SERIES HISTORY: The series is tied 1-1 with the Cardinals coming out victorious in overtime, 3-2, the last time these two squads faced off on Aug. 27, 2010. This will mark the first time the two teams have played on a neutral site.
