Field Hockey Wraps Up Five Game Homestand

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team (2-7, 0-1 MAC) wraps up its five game homestand this weekend as it hosts Mid-American Conference foe Central Michigan on Saturday and Indiana on Sunday.
The Cardinals hosted their largest crowds of the season last weekend as it had Family Weekend and the field hockey Alumni Weekend. Countless alumni came back to watch the 2012 Cardinals, including famed coach Karen Fitzpatrick. Unfortunately, Ball State was unable to secure a victory over Missouri State or Saint Louis.
Freshman Allie White (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) scored a goal against Missouri State and assisted on both goals vs. Saint Louis. Classmate Maddi Eliott (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) did not allow a goal in the first half of the Saint Louis matchup, the first time all season she has recorded a shutout in a half.
The Cardinals make the second-most saves in the Mid-American Conference with 8.44 saves per game with Henley making the fourth-most saves amongst MAC goalies with 5.38 saves per game. Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) is third in the conference in goals per game (0.56) and seventh in points per game (1.11). Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) is seventh in the league in shots per game (2.33).
SCOUTING CENTAL MICHIAN: The Chippewas are 3-6 this season and are 0-1 in the MAC. Central Michigan is coming off a 4-1 loss to No. 13 Iowa and a 4-1 loss to Miami. Erin Dye has five goals and 11 point, while Cayleigh Immelman is the assists leader on the team with four. Anastasia Netto has made 34 saves this season and has a 2.12 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY: Ball State has a 40-25 record all time against Central Michigan, although it has dropped the last three contests. The two teams met twice last season with the Chippewas sweeping the season series, 5-1 and 2-1.
SCOUTING INDIANA: The Hoosiers are 6-2 this season and are 0-1 in the Big Ten. Indiana bounced back from a 7-1 loss to No. 6 Penn State by taking a 2-1 win over Lock Haven. Morgan Fleetwood leads the charge with 16 points this season; she has six goals and four assists on the season. Primary goalkeeper Viki Green has a 5-0 record this season, earning one shutout and holding a 2.70 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY: Indiana holds a 16-4 advantage in the all-time series. The two squads met last season in Bloomington, Ind., with the Hoosiers taking a 4-0 win over the Cardinals.
Ball State takes on Central Michigan on Saturday, Sep. 29 at 1 p.m., and Indiana on Sunday, Sep. 30 at 1 p.m., at the BSU Turf Field at the Briner Sports Complex.
