Field Hockey Falls to No. 10 Northwestern, 8-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Ball State field hockey team dropped an 8-0 decision to the No. 10 Northwestern Wildcats Saturday afternoon in Evanston, Ill. The Cardinals (1-5) are headed back to Muncie to play its first home game of the season against Lindenwood.
"We were working on very specific things today," said head coach Beth Maddox. "This is a process and to see the fight from our team was really rewarding. The results will come. We have a chance to make some adjustments and test them out tomorrow [against Lindenwood]."
Northwestern (8-1) was led by Tara Puffenberger who scored four goals and had one assist. The Wildcats' remaining goals were scored by Chelsea Armstrong and Kaylee Pohlmeyer. The Wildcats outshot the Cardinals 31-3.
Ball State was able to get shots from freshman Allie White (Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont), sophomore Tarel Teach (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and senior Marisa Weachter (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).
Shelby Henley (Novi, Mich./Novi) played all 70 minutes in goal for the Cardinals, making 13 saves.
