Simmons, Scaife, Calhoun Speak to Middle Schoolers
November 02, 2012 | Men's Basketball
The trio spoke to the entire sixth- and seventh-grade classes about the importance of showing respect to others and valuing education.
"Respect is how you think about other people and how you treat other people," Simmons told the students. "Respect is very important in our family at Ball State. Every rule we have in the basketball family starts and ends with respect."
The Northside auditorium was a familiar surrounding for Scaife. The senior guard grew up in Muncie and attended the school before going on to star at Muncie Central. Scaife, who earned his degree in three years and is now enrolled in graduate classes, spoke about the high priority he places on academics.
Calhoun is a freshman forward from South Bend, Ind. He talked about the commitment it takes to balance his school work and basketball at the college level.
