Men's Tennis Wins Saturday's Double-Header

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up its double-header Saturday with 6-1 wins over Valparaiso and IUPUI. The Cardinals have now evened their overall record to 2-2 on the season.
In doubles play the Cardinals were uncontested in both matches as Ball State swept all six of their doubles matches on the day over the Crusaders and the Jaguars.
Against Valparaiso, freshman Ray Leonard, sophomore Austin Smith, freshman Patrick Elliot and senior Derek Carpenter each registered straight set singles victories on their respective courts.
The Cardinals concluded Saturday's double-header with a 6-1 victory over IUPUI. Ball State headed into singles play up 1-0 over the Jaguars, and captured singles wins from Leonard, Zane Smith, Alexandre Brym, Austin Smith and Elliott. Four out of the five singles victories were in straight sets, except on court six where Elliot earned in his win in three.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action Saturday at Xavier. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
