Men's Tennis Team Claims 5-2 Win over Xavier

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team improved its record to 3-2 after a 5-2 victory over Xavier Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals took the early 1-0 edge after the Ball State twosome of Dalton Albertn and Ray Leonard defeated Mesa Mei and Jimmy Roebker 8-6 on court one. At No. 2 doubles Zane Smith teammed up with Derek Carpenter for an 8-4 victory.
Leonard and Alexandre Brym both won their matches in three sets, with Leonard beating Richard Canelas 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Brym defeating Brandon MacDonald 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot. Austin Smith and Patrick Elliott rounded out singles play for the Cardinals both winning in straight sets.
The Ball State men's tennis team begins a three-match homestand Saturday when it hosts Detroit at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
