Men's Tennis Suffers 7-0 Loss at No. 17 Illinois

URBANA, Ill. - The Ball State men's tennis team lost to No. 17-ranked Illinois, 7-0, Friday night at the Atkins Tennis Center. With the loss Ball State is now 0-2 overall.
Illinois won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the early 1-0 edge over the Cardinals heading into singles action. The Ball State twosome of Zane Smith and Derek Carpenter managed a defeat over Roy Kalmanovich and Stephen Hoh to end doubles play.
The Fighting Illini won all six of the singles victories to capture the 7-0 victory over the Cardinals. Alexandre Brym came close to winning his match but lost in three sets to Bruno Abdelnour at No. 4 singles.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring action at home with a double-header Saturday, Jan. 28, against Valparaiso (1 p.m.) and IUPUI (6 p.m.) at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
