
Field Hockey Falls to No. 20 Ohio State, 5-0

MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State field hockey team fell to No. 20 Ohio State, 5-0, Tuesday afternoon at the BSU Turf Field.
Ohio State (6-5) paced the contest with strong offensive pressure, as the Buckeyes outshot the Cardinals, 23-4. Ball State (1-8) was unable to come away with a goal, however freshman midfielder Sanne Hermans (The Hague, Holland) finished with a shot on goal.
At 8:17 mark, the Buckeyes' Danica Deckard put Ohio State on the board after she scored on a breakaway goal past Ball State freshman goalkeeper Haley Fusting (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) to initiate the 5-0 scoring run.
Senior forward Devanny Kuhn (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) tallied two shots, while freshman forward Charlie Digby (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) posted one shot on the day and Fusting finished the contest with a 12 saves during 70 minutes of action.
Next up for the Cardinals, head coach Beth Maddox and the team return to Mid-American Conference action as Ball State heads to Athens, Ohio Saturday for a contest versus Ohio at 1 p.m.
