MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team revealed its 2011 fall schedule, set to begin Saturday, August 20, with a scrimmage in Bloomington, Ind.
Second-year head coach Beth Maddox announced a 20-game regular season schedule, which includes nine non-conference contests and 10 Mid-American Conference games.
"Jacque and I could not be more excited about our 2011 schedule. We want to challenge our team and push them to a new level and what better way to do that than to have an extremely challenging schedule," Maddox said. "Each team that we play will provide us with a chance to learn and grow. We want to expose our freshmen class to a high level of competition. It will be a tough season, but we are confident that the team will be fit and ready to go in August."
The Cardinals open the 2011 regular season in Hamilton, N.Y. against the Colgate Raiders Aug. 26 and the Rider Broncs Aug. 27.
Then, Ball State returns to Indiana for a contest with IU Sept. 3 and the squad opens its home schedule against Northwestern Sept. 13 at the BSU Turf Field. The Cardinals own a 20-15-1 record in home openers after a 5-0 shutout of the Robert Morris Colonials last season.
