Gordyan Represents Men's S&D On Academic All-MAC Squad

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State men's swimming & diving senior distance freestyle specialist Ryan Gordyan (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson H.S.) has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference squad as announced today by the league office.
This is the second straight season Gordyan, an actuarial science major with a 3.90 grade-point average, has been named to the squad.
He earns the honor after placing 18th in the 1650 freestyle at the 2010-11 MAC Championships with a season-best time of 17:09.31. Also placed 25th in the 500 freestyle (4:48.61) and 35th in the 200 freestyle (1:47.16) at the MAC Championships.
Both his 1650 freestyle and 500 freestyle times ranked third on the squad, with his 500 freestyle clocking being a career-best effort.
Gordyan was one of 14 student-athletes to earn recognition on the squad. To earn Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
