
Field Hockey Falls to Michigan State, 1-0, Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team fell to Big 10 opponent Michigan State, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at the at BSU Turf Field. The Spartans outshot the Cardinals 15-12, however Ball State recorded a 6-5 advantage on penalty corners.
At 16:21 mark, Michigan State's Abby Barker scored the lone goal of the game past senior goalkeeper Chelsea Mitchell (Steven, Pa./Cocalico).
Senior forward Devanny Kuhn (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) posted six shots, while freshman midfielder Sanne Hermans (The Hague, Holland) tallied four shots and senior defender Gretchen Lulow (Ballwin, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and freshman midfielder Leanne Goldblatt (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) recorded one shot each.
Senior midfielder Caitlin Maguire (Louisville, Ky./Presentation Academy) posted one defensive save during the contest, while Mitchell recorded eight saves during 70 minutes of action in the cage.
Ball State returns to MAC action Sunday afternoon for a weekend contest versus Missouri State Sunday at Noon at the BSU Turf Field. The game stands as BSU's annual Think Pink game as the Cardinals recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Donations will benefit the Ball Memorial Cancer Center. Pink field hockey t-shirts will be available for $10 donations as well as "Cardinals Think Pink" bracelets for $1 donations when gates open through halftime.
