Men's Basketball Holds Successful Media Day
October 26, 2011 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's basketball program held its annual media day Wednesday afternoon at Worthen Arena. The Cardinals met with local and regional media members after practice before fifth-year head coach Billy Taylor held his first press conference of the season.
"It's that time of year. The ball is bouncing, the shoes are squeaking and coaches are speaking a little louder," Taylor said. "This is a fun time for our team. We are glad to be back in the gym and getting back to work where we left off after our trip to Canada."
The Cardinals are coming off one of the top seasons in recent history as they posted a 19-13 record, with their 19 wins ranking 11th most all-time in program history. Ball State returns nine letterwinners from last season's team, including its top five scorers led by First Team All-Mid-American Conference selection, senior forward Jarrod Jones (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City).
Ball State opens the season with an exhibition game Monday, November 7 as it hosts Taylor. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Worthen Arena and admission is free. The Cardinals open the regular season Sunday, November 13 as they travel to No. 16 Arizona.
