Cross Country Heads To Indiana Intercollegiates

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State cross country team returns to West Lafayette for the second time in three weeks when it competes in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Purdue at the Purdue Varsity Cross Country Course. The women's 5K open race begins at 3:30 p.m., while the women's 5K varsity race is set for 4:30 p.m.
Friday's race is open to all Indiana Colleges and Universities, and will including three regionally ranked teams in No. 7 Indiana, No. 9 Purdue and No. 12 Butler.
The race is the third of five pre-conference meets for the Cardinals, who are in the middle of tuning up for the October 30 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Western Michigan.
In the Cardinals first trip to West Lafayette this season, senior Ali Bishel turned in a fifth place time of 18:37.01 to lead the cross country team at the non-scored Great American Legends Race (Sept. 9).
Last week, with Bishel out of the lineup, senior Kelsey Nielsen turned in a time of 19:28 to place ninth in the 44-runner field at the Sycamore Pride 5K hosted by Indiana State. As a team, the Cardinals placed fifth at the meet with all five of its scored runners placing in the top 18.
