Softball Notches Eight Postseason MAC Awards

Jessie Ware (Phoenix, Ariz./Hamilton/Sr./Third Base)
Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC
The leader of Ball State's offense, Jessie Ware owns the top spot in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.431), runs (61), hits (78), triples (16), extra base hits (36), total bases (140), slugging percentage (.773), on-base percentage (.461) and multi-hit games (21). A senior transfer from Arizona State, Ware leads the conference in runs scored, hits, triples and total bases. Nationally, Ware leads the nation in triples and triples per game, is ranked No. 10 in runs per game and No. 33 in slugging percentage. Setting four single season school records this year - triples, hits, runs and total bases - Ware is also a key player on defense and leads the team with five double plays at third base. In addition, Ware's stats in Mid-American Conference play top the team and the conference in several categories, among which include hits (29), runs scored (20) and triples (4). She was recognized three times this season by the MAC office for her outstanding performance and received the MAC West Division Player of the Week honor May 4, March 30 and March 2.
Elizabeth Milian (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc/Sr./Pitcher)
First Team All-MAC
Elizabeth Milian has clinched several career records at Ball State this year, among which include strikeouts (715), wins (81), complete games (109), games started (122) and saves (8). Her 28-5 record on the mound is ranked No.15 in the country and No. 1 in the Mid-American Conference. She also leads the conference with eight shutouts. Additionally, Milian set her second consecutive single season school record in strikeouts this year tallying 259 to date. With a 3.97 grade point average as a secondary mathematics education major, Milian was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Softball Team for a second straight season, earned the MAC Co-Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on March 26 and was selected as one of 30 finalists in the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. She was also recognized by the MAC seven times this season as the MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week - May 11, May 4, April 13, March 23, March 16, March 2 and Feb. 23 - and has earned the honor 13 times in her career, including a Player of the Week nod in the 2008 season.
In 2009, Milian was named the MAC Pitcher of the Year and was also named First Team All-MAC. She also was a Second Team All-MAC selection as a sophomore.
Lisa Rozanski (Tampa, Fla./Alonso/Jr./Centerfield)
First Team All-MAC
This is the second straight First Team All-MAC spot earned by Lisa Rozanski who plays centerfield for the Cardinals. She leads the team and conference with 33 stolen bases and is ranked No. 20 in the country in the category. With 110 stolen bases in three years, she owns the Ball State career record in this category as well as career records in walks and runs with 78 and 199, respectively. The redshirt junior is third on the team in conference play, batting at a .368 clip and has tallied 25 hits against MAC opponents, four of which are extra base hits. She also owns the single season record at Ball State for stolen bases, which she set in 2008 after notching 43 steals.
Alicia Barkley (Oklahoma City, Okla./Putnam City/Jr./Shortstop)
Second Team All-MAC
The 2009 MAC Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC selection, Barkley is second on the team with three triples against MAC opponents and batted at a .329 clip in conference play. The junior started at shortstop for all 53 games and maintained a .949 fielding percentage. Overall, Barkley hit four doubles and four triples and recorded a .267 batting average.
Amanda Montalto (Las Vegas, Nev./Palo Verde/Soph./Catcher)
Second Team All-MAC
Catcher Amanda Montalto leads the team and the conference with 16 doubles - which is a Ball State single season record -43 RBI and 25 walks. She also leads the team with eight home runs. In the 2009 season, Montalto was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team and was also a First Team All-MAC selection.
Kate Wilczynski (Tucson, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro/Jr./First Base)
Second Team All-MAC
Starting every game for the Cardinals since April 9 and notching a total of 40 starts this season, first baseman Kate Wilczynski is batting at a .303 clip and owns a .514 slugging percentage overall. She has amassed 12 doubles, one triple and three home runs for 28 RBI and has 201 putouts on first base with a single error. Additionally, she was named the MAC Player of the Week April 20.
Amanda Carpenter (Santee, Calif./Santana/Fr./Leftfield)
MAC All-Freshman Team
Amanda Carpenter is second on the team with six home runs this season and owns the team's fifth highest batting average with a .305. She is ranked No. 2 in the conference with 39 runs scored and 40 RBI. In conference play alone, Carpenter is batting at a .324 clip and is tied for first on the team with four home runs. Additionally, she ranks in the top-five in the MAC in three categories - runs scored, RBI and total bases.
