Milian Named MAC West Division Pitcher of the Week

MUNCIE, Ind. - Elizabeth Milian (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc), Ball State's senior pitcher, has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Milian has won the MAC West weekly honor five out of the nine times it has been offered this season and eleven times over her career, including a Player of the Week nod in 2008.

Now 18-2 this season, Milian owns a conference leading 1.30 ERA, the 24th best in the country, and has pitched 134.2 innings for the Cardinals who are 24-9 overall and lead the MAC West Division with a 4-2 conference record. Milian also leads the MAC in wins (18), shutouts (7), complete games (18) and opponent batting average (.183).

The senior ace held a perfect 3-0 record against conference opponents, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan, Friday through Sunday at the BSU Softball Complex in Muncie. Milian also struck out 20 batters in 21 innings pitched and has amassed 166 strikeouts this season. She needs just seven more to overcome Bernie Coffman (1986-89) as Ball State's career leader in this category.

While Milian is second to Coffman in nearly every Ball State career category - besides saves, which Milian owns with a record seven - it is likely that she will overcome the ace of the 80s in several more classes this season.
