
Men's Golf Places Eighth at Missouri Intercollegiate

Ball State's men's golf team finished eighth at the 15-team Columbia Orthopaedic Group Mizzou Intercollegiate at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.
Ball State managed a 300-293-305=898 and finished one spot ahead of Northern Illinois, the only other Mid-American Conference school at the event. Nebraska won the tournament with a 857, while Kansas State finished second with an 858 and the host, Missouri Tigers, tallied an 867 to place third.
Tony Lazzara, who was playing in only his second tournament of the season, was Ball State's top finisher with a 76-70-75=221 to tie for 20th out of 83 golfers.
Eric Steger and Anthony Novak tied for 38th. Steger managed a 73-74-78=225, while Novak carded a 75-74-76=225. Ross Cosat tied for 51st with a 78-75-77=230 and Eric Skillman managed a 76-84-77=237.
Other teams at the tournament included Belmont, Creighton, Iowa State, IUPUI, Kansas, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, Saint Mary's, South Dakota State and Wyoming.
The Cardinals will compete at the Crooked Stick Invitational at Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel, Ind., Monday and Tuesday.
