Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Crooked Stick

Ball State's men's golf team finished in ninth place out of 12 teams at the Crooked Stick Invitational, hosted by Indiana University, at the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
The Cardinals tallied a 310-304-306=920, while 19th ranked Illinois won the event and 31st ranked Middle Tennesse State finished second.
Eric Steger led the Cardinals with a 71-77-73=221, which tied him for 14th in the 63-player field.
Tony Lazzara, a Ball State freshman from Carmel, Ind., tied for 44th after firing an 81-75-78=234.
Ross Cosat tied for 47th with a 79-79-77=235. Joe Gasser carded a 79-81-78=238, and Anthony Novak managed an 83-73-83=239.
Eric Skillman, who was competing as an individual, tied for 29th after shooting an 82-71-77=230.
Joining Ball State and the host Indiana Hoosiers at the event were Butler, Illinois, IUPUI, Minnesota, Purdue, SIU-Edwardsville, Tennessee Chattanooga, Wichita State, Wisconsin and Xavier.
Ball State will compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships April 30 to May 2 at the Longaberger Golf Course in Nashport, Ohio.
