MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State freshman guard Jauwan Scaife (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) has been named to the 2010 CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman All-American Team. Scaife is the only player from the Mid-American Conference to be named to the team and his selection marks the second straight season Ball State has been represented on the team as Jarrod Jones (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) earned the accolades last year.
Scaife became the 12th Cardinal all-time to earn a spot on the MAC's All-Freshmen Team this year. He finished the season third on the team in scoring at 10.2 points per game, which ranked third best among league rookies.
Scaife's 305 points rank sixth best in Ball State history for a freshman. He scored in double figures 17 times, including his first four career games. He finished second on the team with 41 three-pointers, second on the team in free throws made (78) and second in assists (50).
