
Women's Tennis Loses MAC Opener

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's tennis team fell in its Mid-American Conference opener Friday afternoon to Bowling Green by a score of 6-1 at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals drop to 6-8 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
The twosome of Katherine Rist and Kylee Johnson earned an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles over Katia Babina and Jade Johnson but the Falcons defeated the Cardinals at the No. 1 and 3 doubles positions to take an early 1-0 edge heading into singles play.
Johnson was the lone winner in singles action for Ball State at the No. 4 spot. She would capture a three set defeat (6-4, 2-6, 6-2) over Maddy Eccleston.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues MAC action when it hosts Western Michigan Saturday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m. weather permitting.
