Men's Golf Finishes Spring Opener at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

Ball State's men's golf team finished 12th out of 15 teams at its spring season opener, the Pinehurst Intercollegiate at the Village of Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course in North Carolina.
The Cardinals managed a 301-303-298=902 in the tournament, which was won by Virginia Tech with an 876.
Eric Steger carded a 76-79-68=223, and Ross Cosat managed a 72-78-73=223 as the pair tied for 21st at the 83-golfer event.
Alex Stinson tallied a 79-82-81=242 and Anthony Novak recorded a 77-76-76=229. Eric Skillman posted a 76-70 in the first two rounds, but was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard for the final round.
Joe Gasser, who competed as an individual, shot an 81-75-72=228 to tie for 43rd at the event.
Under the direction of head coach, Mike Fleck, the Cardinals are competing against Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Francis Marion, Marquette, Marshall, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, Southern Methodist, UNC Greensboro, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Tech.
The Cardinals will return to action March 27-28 at the Ball State Cardinal Collegiate played at Sultan's Run Golf Course in Jasper, Ind. The tournament is sponsored by the Dubois County Visitors Bureau. Live scoring will be available at www.ballstatesports.com.
