
Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at Sultan's Run

Ball State's men's golf team placed eighth at the 15-team Ball State Cardinal Collegiate at Sultan's Run Golf Course in Jasper, Ind. The tournament was presented by the Dubois County Visitor's Center and won by Evansville.
The Cardinals tallied a 318-293-302=913, while the Purple Aces won with a 301-298-290=889.
Matt Schneider of Bowling Green was the tournament medalist with a 71-71-71=213 (3 under par). Joe Gasser, who competed as an individual, was Ball State's top finisher with a 79-71-72=222 (6 over par) to tie for ninth. TJ Carpenter tied for 14th with a 76-76-71=223, while also competing as an individual.
Eric Skillman tied for 17th with a 76-72-76=224, while Anthony Novak also tied for 17th with a 78-71-75=224. Ross Cosat managed a 78-79-75=232 and Zac Treash carded an 86-80-79=245.
Eric Steger, who had his first round disqualified due to turning in an incorrect scorecard, managed a 71-76 in the final two rounds.
Joining Ball State at the event were Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, IPFW, IUPUI, Marshall, Oakland, Valparaiso, Wright State and Youngstown State. The tournament was played Sultan's Run Golf Course to a par 72 and play at 6,862 yards.
