November 02, 2010 | Men's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State Sports Link, the immersive learning experience which is a national leader in sports media and production, will premiere "12 Players-12 Days" beginning Wednesday, Nov. 3.
The students in Ball State Sports Link have teamed with the BSU men's basketball team for exclusive player features. A different BSU men's basketball player will be profiled each day -- Nov. 3 through the Cardinals' season-opener Nov. 14 against Eastern Illinois.
The series, produced in high definition (HD), marks the second straight year Ball State Sports Link has partnered with Coach Billy Taylor and the men's basketball team. Each of the player features will debut on www.ballstatesports.com and through Sports Link's social media platforms.
In addition to online, Ball State Sports Link's "12 Player-12 Days" can be found on its exclusive Video On Demand Channel for XFINITY Indiana customers in Indiana. XFINITY TV subscribers can access the Sports Link programming through the "Hoosier TV" option on their receivers, then selecting Ball State, then Sports Link.
Ball State Basketball returns four full-time starters and five players who started at least 11 games last year. Those five players have combined to play in 285 career games and have made 223 starts at Ball State. The Cardinals also add a six-member recruiting class which includes five highly-touted freshmen who are expected to contribute this year.
Ball State Sports Link junior Ben Wagner serves as the executive producer of "12 Players-12 Days", while all 19 students in the immersive learning program contributed to the productions. The series begins Nov. 3 with the first feature on freshman Jay Copeland and continues through Nov. 14 with senior Malik Perry.
About Ball State Sports Link:
During the semester, students will produce a broad range of media from live remote productions, live-to-tape events, television programs (WIPB-TV , Comcast Indiana, ESPN Networks, Fox Sports Net, Cardinal Vision 57), student-athlete features and webcasts. Other facets of the immersion program include radio, newspapers, podcasts and the use of mobile technology and interactivity via the web.
To maintain a focus on cross-platform promotion, students repackage the feature stories they create for local use at Ball State and send them to local news stations and outlets in the hometown of the featured player-on any platform the station may require.
