
Cross Country Ends Season At Great Lakes Regional

ROCHESTER, Mich. - - The Ball State women's cross country season came to an end Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by Oakland University at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course in Rochester, Mich., as BSU's three runners failed to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
After placing seventh in the 2009 regional race to earn an individual bid in the NCAA Championships, fifth-year senior Ali Bishel (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) placed 46th in the 231-runner field this season with a 6K time of 21:47.59.
Michigan State's Emily MacLeod won the race with a time of 20:18.76 to guide her team to the event title. Michigan earned the other NCAA automatic team bid with a second-place finish, while Mid-American Conference rival Toledo finished third led by Ari Fisher's third-place time of 20:32.37.
Redshirt sophomore Madeline Goheen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger H.S.) crossed the finish line in 23:54.00 in her first NCAA Regional race, placing 168th overall.
Fifth-year senior Kelsey Nielsen (Bremen, Ind./Bremen H.S.) rounded out BSU's competitors with a time of 23:58.85 to finish 172nd.
