MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming & diving team returns to the road this weekend for a pair of meets starting Saturday with a 1 p.m. Mid-American Conference showdown at Eastern Michigan.
On Sunday, the Cardinals travel to North Central High School in Indianapolis for a three-team meet which will also feature Eastern Illinois and Valparaiso. The meet, which will be run in conjunction with the women's five-team contest, will be hosted by Butler and start at noon.
Ball State enters Saturday's meet at Eastern Michigan with a 4-3 (0-1 MAC) dual record after falling at No. 19 Purdue last Friday. The Eagles enter the week with a 3-1 (1-0 MAC) record after topping Oakland 202-98 in its last scored outing (Jan. 9). EMU, which has won 51 straight MAC dual meets, will host non-conference foe Wayne State Friday night, before facing Ball State Saturday.
Previewing Sunday's meet, the Cardinals have already faced both of its opponents earlier this season. Ball State scored a 169.5-112.5 dual meet victory over Eastern Illinois (Dec. 4) and topped Valparaiso in the three-team Ball State Relay Invitational (Jan. 9).
Entering Saturday's league showdown at Eastern Michigan, the Cardinals have won a league-high four MAC Swimmer of the Week awards. Senior Ben Battjes (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial H.S.) is a two-time winner (Nov. 24 & Jan. 12), while sophomore Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike H.S.) and senior Adam Dale (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg H.S.) have each claimed on honor once, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, respectively.
