Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Golfweek Conference Challenge

Ball State's women's golf team finished 12th out of 18 teams at its season opening tournament, the Golfweek Conference Challenge presented by Vtech at Primm Valley Desert Course in Primm, Nev.
Brittany Kelly topped the Cardinals with a 30th place finish out of the 90 golfers at the event. Kelly carded a 75-75-77=227.
Kristtini Cain recorded a career low 70 in the final round to end the tournament tied for 36th with a 78-82-70=230.
Rachael Pruett tallied a 76-79-77=232 to tie for 43rd, Kirsty O'Connor tied for 66th with a 78-83-77=238 and Katie Windlan tied for 72nd after carding a 79-83-77=239.
Ball State managed a 307-319-301=927 for the tournament and finished ahead of Coastal Carolina (928), Drake (934), Jacksonville State (940), Fresno State (943), Southern Methodist (946) and Portland State (952).
The Cardinals, under the direction of head coach Katherine Mowat, competed in the tournament, which included a number of teams which ended last season in the national rankings -- Oklahoma State (#4), Pepperdine (#14), Ohio State (#27), Georgia State (#29) and UC Irvine (#30).
Ball State will continue the 2009-10 season with its only home event of the year, the Cardinal Classic at the Players Club in Yorktown, Ind., Saturday and Sunday.
