Women's Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision To Akron

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's tennis team fell to 5-8 overall and 0-3 in the Mid-American Conference after losing its match 4-3 to league opponent Akron Friday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals fell behind 1-0 early on in the match after losing the doubles point. BSU dropped all three of its doubles matches. Freshman Hanna Oman and teammate senior Rachel Surowiec was the closest match at the No. 3 spot losing 8-6 to Jeremie Benjamin and Lindsey Berry.
In singles action sophomore Hayley Hall grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Benjamin at No. 4. Sophomore Georgina Thomson posted a 7-6 (2), 6-4 defeat against Kerry Langworthy at No. 5 and teammate Oman was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Carolina Castro at the No. 6.
The Ball State University women's tennis team hosts Buffalo Saturday at Cardinal Creek Tennis Center weather permitting. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
