MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (8-7, 1-3 MAC) will host Eastern Michigan (10-9, 1-4 MAC) this Friday, April 3, with match play scheduled for 12 p.m. ET in Muncie.
The Cardinals return home seeking to gain momentum in the MAC standings. Ball State currently sits in sixth place in the conference, while Eastern Michigan is in ninth. The match will be held at either the Foster Adams Family Tennis Complex and Bill Richards Tennis Courts (outdoors) or the First Serve Muncie Tennis Center (indoors), depending on weather conditions.
Eastern Michigan holds a 35-15 lead in the all-time series. Recent matchups between these two programs have been historically tight. The Eagles have won the last two meetings, both by narrow 4-3 scores. Twelve of the 50 total matches in this series have been decided by a single point.
Heading into the match with a 10-1 spring record, the Cardinals are powered by their standout duo, Isabel Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz. Success continues down the lineup with Sydney Hrehor and Asia Fontana, who hold a solid 10-4 record at the No. 3 spot, while Gabriella Barrera has found her rhythm in singles with three consecutive wins at the No. 6 position.
Following Friday's action, the Ball State women's tennis team stays in Muncie to host Toledo on April 10 at noon.
