Field Hockey?s MacGillivary And Kuhn Named Academic All-MAC

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State senior forward Brooke MacGillivary and sophomore midfielder Devanny Kuhn have been selected to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Team, as announced Tuesday by the league office.
MacGillivary owns a 3.72 GPA as an exercise science major. She tied for first on the team with five goals and tied for second on the team with 11 total points while leading in shots and shots on goal. In addition to earning her third Academic All-MAC honors she was selected to the All-MAC First Team this season. MacGillivary has also been listed as a member of the NFCHA National Academic Squad for the past two years.
Kuhn, a first year recipient of this honor, is a communication studies major who owns a 3.28 GPA. Starting all 19 games this season as a top midfielder, she was first on the team with 14 points earning five goals and four assists. She also earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for her four-goal performance on October 24. The four goals are the most by any player in a single game since 2007.
A total of 11 student-athletes were named to the Academic All-MAC Team. Kent State led all schools with four selections, followed by Ball State and Miami who each had two.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Players are nominated by their head coach, sports information director and faculty athletics representative. The league's faculty athletics representatives then select the team through a vote.
