Men's Swimming & Diving Hosts Michigan State Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State men's swimming and diving team will host Michigan State Saturday for a 2 p.m. dual meet at the Lewellen Acquatic Center.
The Cardinals are coming off a successful weekend in which they defeated Eastern Illinois, IUPUI, Saint Louis and Western Illinois to make their overall record 4-1 (0-1 Mid-American Conference) on the season. The Spartans, meanwhile, haven't competed since Nov. 22 and are 2-1 on the season.
BSU enters the week with eight individuals ranked in the top ten in the MAC in their respective events.
Sophomore Chris Krupa (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike H.S.), the reigning MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, ranks ninth in the conference in the 200 butterfly (1:57.49).
Seniors Austin Laska (Palos Park, Ill./A.A. Stagg H.S.) and Ben Battjes (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial H.S.) rank third (21.25) and eighth (21.43), respectively, in the 50 freestyle.
In the 1650 freestyle, senior Ben Karwoski (Bluffton, Ind./Bluffton H.S.) ranks seventh (16:48.55), junior Mark Golden (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park H.S.) ranks eighth (16:55.07) and freshmen Nicholas Stevens (Greencastle, Ind./Greencastle H.S.) ranks 10th (17:24.21).
Slotted in 10th-place in the 400 IM is sophomore Andrew Hostetler (Vincennes, Ind./Jasper H.S.) while freshman Quinton Rodriguez (Rockford, Mich./Rockford H.S.) ranks 10th in three-meter diving.
The BSU relay squads rank third in both the 200 freestyle (1:25.64) and the 400 medley (3:25.54), fourth in the 400 freestyle (3:10.82) and fifth in both the 800 freestyle (7:18.89) and 200 medley (1:36.07).
