Jones Named Preseason All-MAC West Division

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State sophomore forward Jarrod Jones (Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) has been named to the preseason All-Mid-American Conference West Division team by the MAC News Media Association, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Jones turned in one of the top freshmen seasons in Ball State history last year as he was third all-time among BSU freshmen in rebounding (227) and fourth all-time in freshmen scoring (346). He was named the MAC Freshman of the Year after leading the Cardinals in scoring at 11.2 points and rebounding at 7.2 boards per game.
Jones, an Honorable Mention All-MAC selection last year, started 30 of 31 games while scoring in double figures 18 times. He burst onto the scene with a 21-point, 13-rebound effort in his collegiate debut, marking the first of his three double-doubles on the year.
Joining Jones on the preseason All-MAC West Division team is David Kool (Western Michigan), Darion Anderson (Northern Illinois), Brandon Bowdry (Eastern Michigan) and Carlos Medlock (Eastern Michigan). Preseason All-MAC East Division selections include Kenny Hayes (Miami), Brett McKnight (Akron), Rodney Pierce (Buffalo), Chris Singletary (Kent State) and Humpty Hitchens (Akron).
Also, the 2009-10 preseason media poll was released Wednesday morning with the Cardinals being tabbed fourth in the MAC West Division with 87 points, including three first place votes. Defending MAC Tournament champion Akron was selected to the top spot in the East Division while Central Michigan took the top spot in the West Division.
