Field Hockey Hosts RedHawks And Bears In MAC Home Opener

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team continues Mid-American Conference play at home against Miami 3 p.m. Friday, October 1 followed by a meeting with Missouri State 2 p.m. Saturday, October 3. The weekend begins a six-game home stretch at the BSU Field Turf.
During Friday's match against Miami, the Cardinals will wear Think Pink uniforms. Think Pink t-shirts in support of the Ball State team will be on sale for $10, while Pink Ribbon cups will be available for $2, with all proceeds benefitting the Ball Memorial Hospital Breast Center. Donations will also be accepted. Gill Brothers proudly sponsors Ball State's Think Pink Weekend.
ABOUT THE REDHAWKS: After sweeping MAC Honors last week, Miami boasts a 6-4 overall record (3-0 in MAC) while winning five straight. Mary Hull and Maggie Marcum have each accumulated six goals this season. Katie Brightwell owns four goals while providing seven assists. In goal for the RedHawks, Abbey Huck has tallied 38 saves with a 5-3 record. The Cardinals fell 7-1 earlier this season against Miami; however Ball State still leads the all-time series 43-15.
ABOUT THE BEARS: Missouri State is currently 1-1 in MAC play (3-7 overall) after coming off a victory over Ohio 3-2 in overtime. Leading scorer Melissa Lantz recorded a hat trick against Kent State but could not push the Bears past the Golden Flashes in the 6-3 loss. Missouri State has scored less than a goal per game fewer than its opponents despite the losses. Ball State controls the all-time series 39-19.
COMING UP: The Cardinals continue hosting field hockey action with matchups against Ohio 1 p.m. Saturday, October 10, followed by Kent State 1 p.m. Sunday, October 11. Sunday's game will be broadcast on local radio WCRD 91.3 FM.
