MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State University women's tennis team (0-1) dropped its season opener to Dayton 4-3 Saturday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals won at No. 1 doubles after Ball State twosome sophomore Georgina Thomson (Brisbane, Australia/St. Margaret's) and freshman Dena Boulieris (Lakeforest, Ill./Libertyville) captured a 8-6 victory over Nikki Dzubay and Kelly O'Connell.
In singles action freshman Sarah Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) won in three sets at the No. 1 spot over Loni Dickerhoof while classmate Boulieris took down Kallaina Grote at No. 2, 6-4, 6-0. Freshman Kylee Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) rounding out the Cardinals victories after defeating Dzubay, 6-3, 6-1.
The Ball State women's tennis team will host Wright State Thursday at the YMCA Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
