Women's Golf Finishes Third at Zippy Invitational

The Ball State University women's golf team coming off a victory at its own Cardinal Classic finished third out of 12 teams at the Zippy Invitational at Rosemont Country Club in Fairlawn, Ohio.
Brittany Kelly tied for second in the event with a 78-72-80=230. Darby Peters of Eastern Michigan won the tournament with a 71-73-76=220. Kelly tied with Courtney Aili of EMU.
Eastern Michigan won the event with a 300-304-315=919, while Akron was second with a 321-303-319=943. Ball State managed a 317-313-328=958 to place third. The Cardinals finished ahead of Mid-American Conference foes -- Ohio (5th), Toledo (6th) and Bowling Green (7th).
Kristinni Cain finished ninth after firing a 78-79-79. Kirsty O'Connor was 20th with a 78-80-84. Rachael Pruett managed an 83-82-85 and Sarah Windlan tallied an 85-82-86. Katie Windlan played as an individual and managed an 82-79-90. Paige Esford competed as an individual, but sat out the second round due to an injury. She managed a 77 in the first round and an 82 in the final round.
The Cardinals were joined at the event by host Akron, Ashland, Bowling Green, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Oakland, Ohio, Robert Morris, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Youngstown State.
Ball State will compete at the Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Club in Iowa City, Iowa, Saturday and Sunday.
