The Ball State women's golf team won the 15-team Iowa Hawkeye Invitational played at Iowa's Finkbine Golf Club. The Cardinals defeated the host Hawkeyes by five strokes over the 54-hole tournament.
It marked Ball State's second tournament win of the fall season, and the sixth tournament victory in the last two seasons. The Cardinals won their own Cardinal Classic earlier this fall at The Players Club in Muncie.
Kirsty O'Connor led the Cardinals with a 77-73-79=229 to tie for sixth. Brittany Kelly was ninth with a 74-76-80=230, and Kristtini Cain managed a 10th-place finish after carding a 79-78-74=231. Rachael Pruett tied for 14th with a 79-79-76=234, and Katie Windlan managed an 86-76-87=249.
Ball State tallied a 309-303-309=921 to outpace the 926 by Iowa.
Ball State will return to action Oct. 27-28 at the Pat Bradley Invitational at the Pelican Preserve Golf Course in Fort Myers, Fla.
