
Cardinals Comeback To Split DH Against IPFW

Kristina Karpun led the Mastodons to a victory in game one with a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the fifth inning.
Tiffany Garofano falls to 7-10 on the year for BSU. Garofano limited the Mastodons to four hits, and struck out 13 batters.
IPFW took control of game two in the fourth inning as Rachel Staschuk led off with a triple.
Staschuk would score the only IPFW run of the game off a wild pitch from Laura Masch.
Ball State came back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Kathryn Wilczynski reached on a walk to get things started for BSU. Elizabeth Milian entered the game to pinch hit for Natalie Bejarano with two outs in the inning.
Milian delivered a single to right field to keep the inning alive, and also allowed Wilczynski to move into scoring position.
Both runners advanced off a wild pitch with Amber Wolf at the plate. Wolf battled a full count and was eventually walked to load the bases.
Freshman Lisa Rozanski got hit for the 11th time this season to send the tying run home for BSU.
The international tie-breaker rule was put into effect for extra innings. Kayla Powell started the inning on second base for IPFW. Powell tried to score off a
Alyssa Collins started on second base for the Cardinals in the bottom of the eighth. Abby Gross hit single up the middle to record her 31st RBI of the year. Collins scored easily on the play to give
Laura Masch improved to 5-3 on the mound. Masch threw all eight innings and recorded 11 strikeouts.
