
Men's Golf Ties for Ninth at Marshall Invitational

The Ball State men's golf team tied for ninth at the 17-team Marshall Invitational Saturday. The original 54-hole tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday was reduced to a 36-hole tournament played Saturday due to inclement weather Friday.
The Cardinals tallied a 291-294=585 to tie for ninth with Miami University of the Mid-American Conference. Other MAC schools at the invitational included Bowling Green, which tied for 11th, and Ohio and Northern Illinois, which tied for 15th.
Illinois won the event with a two-round total of 554, defeating second-place Penn State by seven strokes.
Andrew Rhodes was the top performer for the Cardinals with a 72-70=142, which tied him for 14th in the 89-man field. Brian Maurer tied for 23rd with a 72-72=144, while Eric Skillman tied for 50th with a 72-77=149. Ben Lakoff managed a 75-75=150 and Eric Steger tallied a 78-79=157.
Ball State will return to action April 13-14 at the Kentucky Johnny Owens/Brewer Invitational at the UK Big Blue Golf Course in Lexington, Ky.
