MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State field hockey program has added an eighth student-athlete to its 2008 recruiting class, according to fifth-year head coach Annette Payne.
The Cardinals have signed Caitlin Maguire (Louisville, Ky. / Presentation Academy) to a National Letter of Intent to attend Ball State and compete for the field hockey team.
Maguire was a 2007 Senior All-Star and a four-time selection to the Christian Academy Classic All-Tournament Team. She also earned recognition on the All-Apple Tournament Team. In the classroom, Maguire earned recognition as a 2007 Governor's Scholar and a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Academic All-State First Team. She played field hockey at the club level for the International Field Hockey Club of Kentucky.
Maguire is the eighth recruit to commit to the Ball State field hockey program for 2008. Last month, Payne announced the signing of seven players: Kristen Falk (Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen H.S.), Brittany Hammer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy), CJ Hermes (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy), Devanny Kuhn (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy), Chelsea Mitchell (Stevens, Pa./Cocalico H.S.), Katie Norris (Louisville, Ky./Mercy Academy) and Rachel Shulhafer (Louisville, Ky./Dupont Manual H.S.).
"This group of players is going to be very special," Payne said after last month's signings. "They are all very talented individually, and together they have the capability of making a huge impact. We have players from all over coming to Ball State, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome them into the family as part of our team."
