Women's Golf Team Ties for Ninth in Arizona

The Ball State women's golf team tied for ninth place out of 18 teams and finished third out of six Mid-American Conference teams at the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona. The Cardinals shot a 307-304-307=918 to tie for ninth with Illinois State. The nation's 20th-ranked Notre Dame won the event with a 294-290-291=875, while Eastern Michigan finished fifth and Western Michigan tied for sixth.
Ball State's Paige Esford and Kirsty O'Connor were the top competitors for the Cardinals and tied for 17th out of 106 golfers. Esford managed a 75-74-78, while O'Connor tallied a 79-76-72. Sarah Windlan shot a 75-76-79 to tie for 26th in the field, while Brittany Kelly tied for 62nd with a 78-79-81.
Amy Roberts managed an 83-78-78, and Rachael Pruett tallied an 80-82-83 to complete the Ball State competitors.
The Cardinals finished ahead of MAC foes Toledo (12th), Bowling Green (14th) and Ohio (18th).
Ball State will continue its season March 24-25 at the Butler Invitational at the Prestwick Golf Course in Avon, Ind.
