Field Hockey Schedules Pair Of Spring Contests

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State field hockey team has scheduled two spring competitions for the month of April.
The Cardinals -- led by fifth-year head coach Annette Payne -- will play Saturday, April 5 at Big East opponent Louisville and Saturday, April 19 at Big Ten foe Indiana.
Ball State played both teams during the 2007 season. The Cardinals dropped a close, 2-0 decision at home to Louisville and also fell 2-0 on the road at Indiana.
The two spring games will serve as preparation for the 2008 season. Ball State returns 14 players for the upcoming fall season, including top scorers Brooke MacGillivary and Casey Hunsicker. The Cardinals also recently signed seven high school players to join the program this fall.
Ball State is coming off a 5-13 campaign in 2007. The Cardinals picked up some momentum down the stretch, closing the season with wins in three of their final six regular season games.
