
Men's Golf Ties for Seventh at Rain Shortened IU Invite

The Ball State University men's golf team, under the direction of head coach Mike Fleck, tied for seventh at the 16-team Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., after Sunday's final 18-hole round was cancelled due to rain and wet course conditions.
The Cardinals managed a 302-297=599 to tie for seventh. Eastern Kentucky won the event played at the IU Course with a 582 team score, while Miami University was second with a 584.
Ball State's Eric Steger led the Cardinals with a 73-75=148, which tied him for 18th. Ross Cosat and Andrew Rhodes tied for 36th in the field. Cosat managed a 78-73=151, while Rhodes tallied a 79-72=151. Brian Maurer recorded a 75-77=152 and Eric Skillman managed a 76-80=156.
Joining Ball State in the event were Bowling Green, Miami University, Northern Illinois and Toledo from the Mid-American Conference. Other teams at the tournament are host Indiana plus Butler, Cleveland State, Eastern Kentucky, George Washington, IPFW, IUPUI, Purdue, Dayton, Evansville, Western Illinois and Youngtown State.
Sunday's final 18 holes were scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start, however, morning rain and an already wet course led to cancellation of the final round.
