
Men's Basketball Loses On The Road At EMU, 75-64

YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Ball State University men's basketball team (5-22, 4-10 MAC) lost on the road at Eastern Michigan (12-15, 7-7 MAC) by a score of 75-64 in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center.
Despite the loss, Ball State had three players in double figures led by junior Anthony Newell with 15 points. Rashaun McLemore added 14 points and Peyton Stovall had 12.
The Cardinals scored the first basket of the game after a lay-up by Stovall, but Eastern Michigan would score five of the next six points and never trail again in the opening half.
With just 3:10 left in the first period BSU trailed EMU by 10-points (35-25). The Cardinals managed to cut the gap to four (37-33) at end the half, after a trey from Stovall and back-to-back buckets from McLemore.
Ball State started strong in the second half. holding EMU scoreless for over three minutes to take a 39-37 lead. The Eagles would tie the game at 41-41 at the 15:38 mark and hold a six-point edge with 8:27 left in the game.
Laron Frazier hit a jumper to cut the Eagles lead to four, 57-53. Brandon Lampley hit one from behind the arc to make it a 61-58 EMU ball game with just under five minutes left in regulation, but the Cardinals could not get any closer.
Newell made it 71-64 with a late three-point play with under a minute left, but it was not enough as the Eagles took the victory from BSU, 75-64.
Ball State men's basketball hosts Northern Illinois in its last home game of the season on Tuesday, March 4. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in Worthen Arena.
